Office Light Credit

I have a problem. Okay, I have many problems, but only one about which I am posting right now. While I have an office in my firm's space, I am currently stuck in a work room doing document review. My phone forwards to the work room, my comfy chair is in the work room, my computer and ergonomic trackball are in the work room. I see my office twice a day - when I hang up my coat, and when I return to retrieve it.

My problem is that while I am slaving away in the work room until 7, 8, or 9 o'clock, the cleaning staff inevitably turn off the light in my office when they empty the trash at about 5:30. No big deal, right? Except that anyone who walks by my office at 5:35 thinks I've taken off for the evening, and I don't get mental credit for working late hours. I know, I know, I am still billing for the hours and getting that credit, but anyone who notices frequently that my light is out by 5:30 will have a mental impression that I have adjourned for the evening.

That really grinds my gears.

QV.
